The Read
''The Read'' is a weekly one-hour pop culture podcast based in New York City. One of several podcasts affiliated with the Loud Speakers Network headlined by ''The Combat Jack Show'', ''The Read'' is hosted by vloggers Kid Fury and Crissle.
During podcast episodes, Kid Fury and Crissle, who are friends, discuss and analyze pop culture and current events.〔〔〔 The first episode was released on March 4, 2013. ''The Read'' is distributed via the iTunes Store, iHeartRadio Talk, Soundcloud, and Stitcher. On iTunes, the podcast peaked at number three in the "New and Noteworthy" section charts and at number one in the comedy section charts.〔
The podcast's format has three sections: "Hot Topics," as selected by Kid Fury (the segment has undergone several name changes, including the fan favorite "Bitch, You Guessed It!!"), "Listener Letters," as curated by Crissle (the segment is changed to "Listener Questions" when done during a live show), and "The Read," where Kid Fury and Crissle "read" (African American gay slang for telling someone about themself)〔 a person or topic.〔
Special guests have included Mike Brown, Franchesca Ramsey, Dustin Ross, Shaun Ross, Freshalina, Charlamagne Tha God, Estelle, Jenifer Lewis, Jazmine Sullivan, Reagan Gomez, and Roblé Ali.
